Pregnant Teen Waitress Gets $1,000 Tip

he couple at one of waitress Amanda Newkirk's many tables seemed ordinary enough. The woman ordered a turkey burger, fries and two Coors Lights. The man had a bacon cheeseburger and sweet tea.

Their bill came to $26.35. They left Newkirk $1,000.

Newkirk, seven months pregnant and teary with excitement, read the handwritten note on the check: "Keep the change! Have a great day."

The 19-year-old thought it had to be a joke. But the manager at Ruby Tuesday confirmed the authenticity of the ten $100 bills with a counterfeit-detection pen.

Newkirk couldn't figure out why the couple had given her such a generous tip. She didn't think her service had been very good.

US Tax Office Has Special Computer For Bill Gates

Bill Gates says the US tax office has to store his financial data on a special computer.

"My tax return in the United States has to be kept on a special computer because their normal computers can't deal with the numbers," he told a Microsoft conference in Lisbon.

"So I am constantly getting these notices telling me I haven't paid something when really it is just on the wrong computer.

"Then they will send me another notice telling me how bad they feel they that they sent me a notice that was a mistake."

Message In A Bottle Washes Up In Oregon

When Christopher Wattam was 11, he knew something about geography he wanted to share with somebody, perhaps in Asia.

He wrote a message he and his parents put in a wine bottle and pitched into the Pacific Ocean. "Dear Finder," he said, explaining "you may not know" the location of his hometown. "Coquitlam is a city near Vancouver. Now if you don't know where Vancouver is, you don't know your geography."

"We live in Canada, which is our country," he said.

"You probably think of the Pacific Ocean as the East Coast but we know it as the West Coast and that is where Vancouver is."
