Online gambling outfit Golden Palace yesterday took temporary charge of the substantial assets which it recently secured for £422 on a eBay auction, viz; the legally-displayable portion of 27-year-old Angel Brammer’s 42GG breasts. For fifteen days the Glaswegian lass will proudly display Golden Palace's temporary tattoo - applied by a local artist who must think that Xmas has come early.

The rental agreement marks a new high for Golden Palace, which has pretty well cornered the "ridiculous eBay auction" market. The company already owns the now-legendary Virgin Mary in a toasted cheese sandwich, for which it forked out $28,000 (£15,000), as well as "a haunted walking cane bought for $65,000 USD (£35,000), a child's bumper sticker for $10,700 USD (£5,700), and a Weeping Jesus Rock for $2,550 USD (£1,300)!" as the breathless press release puts it.

"Crazy" Vermont Bear Sells Out - No More

To the relief of advocates for the mentally ill, the Vermont Teddy Bear Co. said Thursday that its straitjacketed "Crazy For You" bears are sold out and that it will not make any more.

For weeks, advocates and Republican Gov. James Douglas have criticized the toy as insensitive. The $69.95 bear, marketed as a Valentine's Day gift, came with a straitjacket and commitment papers.

The company said it had decided weeks ago that it would stop manufacturing the bears but would continue selling them through Valentine's Day.

Company spokeswoman Nicole L'Huillier said the bear had sold unusually well, but would not release figures.

Mental health advocates claimed victory.

Pregnant Woman's Belly Gets $4,000 on eBay

A woman selling advertising on her pregnant belly will receive $4,050 from the highest eBay auction bidder, Golden Palace Casino.

Amber Rainey will have the online casino's Web site temporarily tattooed to her stomach Thursday. It will remain until she delivers her first child, due on March 21.

Rainey didn't think her belly would fetch much as advertising space, but the casino has a record of unusual buys in online auctions, including paying $28,000 for a grilled cheese sandwich that bears the image of the Virgin Mary.

Rainey has received national attention as her eBay auction page received more than 50,000 hits. Still, she said she was surprised by the final bid price and other possible perks.

Rainey said Golden Palace officials would like her to expose her belly at concerts and the Super Bowl, though no final decisions have been made.

She hasn't decided whether she would auction another body part or stomach again.

"Maybe once is enough," she said.

911 Caller: School Bus Driver's Asleep At Wheel

A school bus driver was charged with driving with alcohol in his system after a student on the bus called 911 from a cell phone and said the driver was asleep at the wheel.

Vernon Tobias Wallace, 23, was charged Tuesday after police and Charlotte-Mecklenburg school officials pulled over his bus near Eastway and Woodland drives.

Police would not release test results of Wallace's blood-alcohol level but said it was below 0.04 percent.

Luxury Manhattan Pad For The Cost Of A Pizza

A woman is fighting to hang on to one of the world's best housing deals - a two bedroom Manhattan apartment for £1a week.

Patricia Becker, 62, was given a 10-year lease at the rate of $100 a year by the building's former owner Michael Lazar.

But the new owners of the building, in trendy Chelsea, says it's worth $5,000 a month, reports the New York Daily News.

In court papers, they claim she only got the deal because she had an affair with Mr Lazar - although she insists she only worked for him.

Lawyer Philip Byler said: "Our position is that $100 a year is grossly disproportionate to the value of the apartment and it has got to go. She is not employed by us.

"We are not getting any benefit that she might have been bestowing on the prior owner of the building."

Ms Becker was unavailable for comment but opinion among her neighbors was divided.

"If she got that deal, I want that deal," said former tenant Judy Ross who moved out of her $2,500-a-month one-bedroom flat last month.

But another resident said: "That's New York. I don't begrudge her as long as she can do it legally. And when it ends, she should look back on it and say: "I had a good run"."

The case is expected to go to court later this year.

Finally - Sony Play Station Portable Release Date

Sony Corp said Thursday it will release the PlayStation Portable in North America on March 24 and have 1 million units ready for sale in the first week.

The PSP machine, a challenger to Nintendo Co.'s long-standing grip on the handheld video gaming market, will be sold as a "value pack" for $250 in the United States and for $300 Canadian dollars. It will include numerous accessories and — for the first million sold — a copy of the "Spider-Man 2" movie on the new Universal Media Disc format that Sony designed for the PSP.

Sony said it has already shipped 800,000 PSPs in Japan, where it went on sale on Dec. 12 for about $190.

Cookie Girls Ordered To Pay $900

Two teenage girls who surprised their neighbors with homemade cookies late one night were ordered to pay nearly $900 in medical bills for a woman who says she was so startled that she had to go to the hospital.

Judge Doug Walker declined Thursday to award punitive damages, saying he did not believe the girls acted maliciously.

Taylor Ostergaard, 17, and Lindsey Jo Zellitti, 18, baked the chocolate chip and sugar cookies one night last July. They made packages with a half-dozen cookies each and added large red or pink construction-paper hearts that carried the message, “Have a great night” and were signed with their first initials: “Love, The T and L Club.” Then they set off to make their deliveries.

Miami Cops Find Millions of Missing Nickels Buried In Backyard

Police hit paydirt Friday, digging up 3.6 million nickels that disappeared along with a trucker who was supposed to deliver them to the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank in New Orleans.

Authorities found the $180,000 in coins buried in a one-metre hole in the backyard of a suburban-Miami home.
