Boca Raton Mayor Steven Abrams could barely speak between bites as he devoured the 20-ounce, $100 hamburger billed as the "beluga caviar of sandwiches."

Indian Food Flown To World Cup For English Fans

A group of curry-mad England fans are paying £1,600 to have a takeaway flown out from home to Germany.

Bath restaurant Bombay Nights is sending out the meal in time for the end of the England's match against Trinidad and Tobago.

Their customers are dance musicians Opposite Worlds who asked for the curry to be sent to their hotel in Munich.

Bombay Nights manager Abdul Nasir, 32, will fly out with the meal in a cool bag, reports the Sun Online.

World's Biggest Burger

A US restaurant has beaten its record for the world's biggest burger with a whopping 15-pounder.

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, already had the title with a 6lb burger.

But owners thought a 15-pound burger would prove an even bigger attraction, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Diners who can finish the £25 burger in under five hours win £200, a T-shirt and their name posted on the pub's wall of fame.

Strawberry Milk Sausage Sales Set To Sizzle

In a bid to boost declining sales of fish-meat sausages, Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (Nissui) has come up with a new flavor designed specifically to attract children -- strawberry milk.

The company will begin selling the sausages on Sept. 1, and is expecting them to be a hit, aiming for sales of 200 million yen in the first year.

Sausage sales in Japan have leveled off in recent years, totaling 46.5 billion yen in fiscal 2004. In 2005, the figure is expected to rise only slightly, to 47 billion yen.

Food Means Having To Say You're Sorry

Japanese customers must apologize for their country's wartime occupation of China before getting a seat at a restaurant in former Manchuria or find another place to eat, Japan's Kyodo news agency said Tuesday.

No Japanese had tried to enter the restaurant in the northeastern Chinese city of Jilin since it started the new apology policy and hung a sign that read "Japanese people barred from entry."

"We totally welcome those Japanese customers who can correctly view history," the manager, surnamed Tian, was quoted as saying.

Danish Pizzeria Owner Jailed For Refusing To Serve French, German Tourists

A Danish pizzeria owner went to jail Tuesday for refusing to serve French and German tourists in protesting their countries' opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

A Danish court found Aage Bjerre guilty of discrimination and sentenced him to pay a 5,000-kroner fine, about $900 US. Bjerre refused to pay, and will now serve an eight-day sentence at a minimum security prison.

Whale Burger On Menu At Fast Food Chain

With Japan under fire for plans to expand its whaling program, a fast food chain is offering a new product aimed at using up stocks from past hunts -- whale burger.

The 380 yen ($3.50) slice of fried minke whale in a bun went on sale Thursday at Lucky Pierrot, a restaurant chain in the port city of Hakodate on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido.

"The taste and texture are somewhere between beef and fish," said Lucky Pierrot manager Miku Oh. "People in Hakodate have a long history of eating whale, so customers are looking forward to trying it."
